Agriculture and Farm Machinery: the italian market 2018

After a year of hard work, we close this year 2018 looking at FederUnacoma data regarding the registration of our agriculture sector in Italy.

"After the effect of the" Mother Regulation ", which had determined a big increase of registrations in 2017, pushing the market beyond its actual capacity, tractors sales are back to the levels of 2016. There is also a decrease in registrations with regard other types of machines, and for the next year the effects of the general non-positive economic trend are feared. The disbursement of the PSR Community funds continues to support the sector, to which are added the 35 million euro again allocated by INAIL for the purchase of agricultural machinery with high safety standards.

The italian agricultural machinery market in the last year returns to its real size: the registrations of the tractor at the end of 2018 amounted to 18.442, -18.8% compared to the previous year (which with over 22,700 units and a 23.8% asset had indeed recorded an anomalous growth) and aligned with the 2016 data when the final balance indicated a total of 18,341 units.

The data, elaborated by FederUnacoma on the basis of the registrations provided by the Ministry of Transport, show a weak overall market, with particularly marked decreases, as far as tractors are concerned, in important regions such as Emilia Romagna (-32.6%), Veneto (-25%), Piedmont (-28%) and Lazio (-26.7%). Premature, according to the association of builders, make predictions for the new year, which could however be affected by the general trend of the country. Economic indicators show a general decline in production and investments; and the uncertainty on the agricultural sector could further discourage purchases, even if incentive tools are not lacking. In addition to the EU funds related to RDP rural development plans, INAIL funds are again available for the purchase of mechanical equipment with high safety requirements. The tender for funding managed by the Institute has in fact been renewed with a financial envelope of 35 million euros, and provides for grants, from 40 to 50% of the total expenditure, for the purchase, or even rental with a pact purchase, agricultural or forestry tractors and agricultural machinery of various types. Applications from agricultural companies can be completed online from 11 April next up to 30 May. From the following June 6th it will be finally possible to download the identification code of the applications and to know the dates for the final sending of the same. "
