What Is an Undervine Plow?
An undervine plow is a specialized implement used to cultivate soil and manage weeds between vine rows or around orchard trees. Rinieri's version features a front-mounted disc that creates a shallow opening in the soil, allowing the rear plow to move and cover the soil effectively. The front disc is reversible for both scalping (dehilling) and hilling operations, offering two essential functions in a single tool.
Our Turbo system with scalping kit allows operators to work at speeds of 5–6 km/h (3.50 mph) while maintaining excellent soil cleanliness near plants thanks to the integrated plant-cleaning blade. The Turbo system also offers a unique tool rotation function, making it suitable even for tightly spaced plants—down to just 70 cm (27.56 in).
How Does the Rinieri Undervine Plow Work?
The plow operates using a rotating tool mechanism that automatically (with sensor rod) retracts away from trunks or stems, protecting the plants. The working depth is limited to approximately 10 cm, which is optimal for weed control and soil aeration. The scalping kit can be easily removed and replaced with other tools, such as hoeing blades, for year-round operations. With hydraulic adjustments and interchangeable components, the tool can be adapted to various working conditions and tractor setups, making it an incredibly versatile solution for vineyards and orchards.
