Orchard pruning: discover Rinieri solutions

One of the most important tasks in orchard management is the pruning of fruit trees.

With pruning, we take care of the plant and keep it healthy, concentrating its strength and ridding it of its weakest parts, dry or diseased branches and superfluous vegetation. In this way we also prevent it from ageing.

Pruning encompasses a series of operations necessary to guide the plant in its growth and ensure that it develops to ensure a constant, long-lasting yield and quality production.

The orchards pruning is aimed at containing excessive growth of vegetation, maintaining the correct size and giving the tree a shape that is more functional to our cultivation project and its management.

In addition, pruning part of the vegetation allows us to concentrate nutrients and, therefore, development towards the main branches and makes the fruit trees stronger but also less susceptible to attack by parasites and diseases.

This is because a well-managed foliage, in which there is good air circulation and sunlight filtering, promotes a healthy environment that is less prone to the proliferation of pathogens.

Mechanical pruning of orchards

Rinieri's agricultural pruning equipment is built to be the best solution for every type of orchards.

With our machinery you can automate pruning operations in the various plants, from orchards with traditional tree plantations to intensive espalier orchards. This makes it possible to intervene at the best times, increasing the efficiency of the work and achieving considerable savings in labour costs and time.

These machines can be used in the pruning of a variety of different crops such as: apples, peaches, plums, cherries, pomegranates, citrus, oranges, almonds, olives and hazelnut groves, but also for small fruits such as blueberries, aronia, medicinal herbs and for heliciculture.

Our range of pruners is divided into 3 main categories with two types of cutting bars: teeth & blade and disc.

How you choose the cutting bar?

  • The cutting bar with teeth and blade cut branches with a diameter of a few centimetres (the teeth 'SCH' bars cut up to 4 cm in diameter, the 'RINIERI' teeth bars fitted in ORSL pruners cut up to 6 cm in diameter) and are suitable for annual pruning of all type of orchards.
  • The discs, on the other hand, allow cuts on larger branches (they can cut up to 8 cm in diameter, but also 15 cm in the ORS pruning machine), while for cutting thinner branches they are less effective than the teeth bars. For this reason they are suitable for downsizing pruning or pruning after several years.

Skirting pruners

Low pruners used for skirting in citrus groves, orchards and olive groves with vase planting. Useful for cutting the lower branches that go towards the ground and take energy away from the plant.

The models are the CRB with 'SCH' tooth cutting bar and the CRB-X with disc cutting bar. Both are available in single and double versions for pruning both inner sides of the orchard in a single pass.

Pruners for espalier or intensive planting

Pruners for use in apple orchards and high-density orchards, equipped with 4 hydraulic movements controlled by proportional joystick, ideal for cutting branches in espalier or intensive orchards, with plants up to 4 metres high.

The cutting bars of these pruners are from 200 cm to 340 cm and can be accompanied by an upper or lower top or by ventral bars, an optional extra that allows the entire plant to be pruned.

The models with teeth and blades are CRF, CRF 2 (double); with discs CRF-X.

Traditional tree pruners

Orchard pruners, equipped with 4 hydraulic movements controlled by a proportional joystick, for working on different types of planting, both in traditional tree orchards reaching a high height - with single-cone or cone planting - and in intensive plants dedicated to mechanised harvesting.

Ideal for traditional pot orchards such as olive, peach and plum trees and orchards with heights of up to 6 metres.

We offer models with single cutting bar: the ORP with disc and the ORPL with teeth capable of reaching heights of up to 650 cm vertically and 460 cm horizontally

And others models with a double cutting bar: the ORS with discs and the ORSL with teeth and blade for vertical and horizontal pruning in a single pass - or both vertically thanks to the 90° inclination of the upper bar, becoming a 400 cm bar, so as to reach heights of 600 cm vertically or 400 cm horizontally.

In addition, we produce pruners for berries or small fruits, with discs or knives, to work in specific plantations such as blueberries or medicinal herbs. The tunnel or 'inverted U' cutting bars are designed to prune both vertically on both sides and the top of the plant at the same time.

The CRV-X PLUS is fitted with disc bars, the models with knife bars are the CRV V1 PLUS and the CRV T1 PLUS, and with tines the CRL V1 PLUS.

While, for heliculture or snail farming, we have designed and sold a lighter teeth bar, the model BRM, suitable for cutting grasses and cabbages on which snails feed. The machine can also be mounted in small tractors from 15 to 20 Hp.

Thanks to the wide choice of models, our pruners are able to meet the needs of all farmers and adapt to all different requirements and types of cultivation.

All Rinieri orchard pruners have the frame positioned at the front of the tractor, allowing the operator maximum visibility and the possibility of adjusting the position while driving inside the orchard for perfect pruning.
